Spellcrypt: Daily 5-Letter Word & Turn-Based Combat Game

Spellcrypt combines a 5-letter word deduction puzzle with deterministic turn-based combat. You have up to 6 turns and 18 HP to uncover the Crypt Warden’s 5-letter Hidden Word (from 908 curated English answers and 11,846 valid guesses) while defending against escalating attacks.

How Combat and Word Feedback Work

• Green tile (correct position): deals 3 damage the first time that position is discovered, and 1 damage on subsequent guesses.
• Yellow tile (letter appears elsewhere in the word): grants 2 block for the current turn to absorb the Warden’s attack.
• Grey tile (no unmatched occurrence): provides no base damage or block unless modified by an equipped relic.
• Relic drafts: after turns 1 and 3, choose 1 of 3 relics (up to 2 equipped) that take effect on your next guess.
• Warden knockdown: reducing the Warden’s 24 HP to 0 knocks it down and halts its regular attacks, but only solving the 5-letter word completes the seal. If your 6th guess misses while the Warden is fallen, it rises for a final unwarded strike.

Daily Encounter and Practice Mode

Daily mode generates one deterministic encounter per calendar day (UTC) for each language, tracking local winning streaks and completion history. Practice mode generates fresh seeded encounters on demand with a local top-10 highscore table.

Privacy, Local Storage, and Optional Accounts

Spellcrypt is playable in the browser without creating an account. Active runs, daily history, highscores, and theme/language settings are saved in your browser’s localStorage. Optional sign-in via Google OAuth (PKCE) or one-time email code stores completed results and profile preferences in an owner-isolated Supabase database. No third-party advertising or tracking cookies are set without consent.

Dictionaries, Licensing, and Contact

English word lists derive from the Wordnik word list (/licenses/wordnik.txt) and Brazilian Portuguese word lists derive from open Portuguese lexicons (/licenses/pt-br.txt). Operated by the Spellcrypt project team; for support, privacy requests, or security reports, use the repository issue tracker or account data export/deletion tools.
